The grazing of sheep on 500 ha of moorland within the Yorkshire Dales National Park,was managed from a farmstead located in the valley bottom. Despite substantial initial opposition to the establishment of a new sheep handling building on this elevated site, planning permission was obtained.
Detailed explanation of the requirement for a building on this hilltop location, and the provision of information to demonstrate that the site chosen was the optimum solution, convinced the Planning Authority that planning permission should be given.
