Advise was sought from WBW on maximising the value of a redundant farm complex. WBW entered into pre-application discussions with the Local Council. The complex was located slightly remotely from the village of Carleton. Despite this constraint, an agreement in principle was obtained from the Council that this was a suitable location for new housing development.
An application for planning permission was subsequently made on behalf of the landowner. Rather than converting existing buildings on the site, the case was successfully made that a more comprehensive and satisfactory development could be achieved through complete redevelopment of the site. This approach helped to maximise the site value. WBW managed that application through the process and an outline planning permission was obtained for circa 24 new dwellings. The site was subsequently sold by WBW to a local property developer.
