The land is situated approximately 10 miles from the market town of Skipton within the surrounds of the picturesque villages of Cracoe and Thorpe as shown on the location plan.


The land has been farmed by the vendor as part of their wider operations but lies remote from the core holdings. The land offered for sale forms 3 distinct blocks, however the vendors are amenable to revising the lots.

Lot 1

Situated in the picturesque village of Thorpe this lot comprises 38.21 hectares (94.43 acres) of sweet limestone pasture and allotment plus 214 common rights on Burnsall and Thrope Fell. The land  encompasses Kail Hill, one of the famous Cracoe Reed Knolls. The land offers valuable and sheltered grazing, but with part designated as SSSI it is also of considerable environmental and geomorphological interest.

The land enjoys access to the South West from Fell Lane and to the North East from Kail Lane. The spring and collection tanks which provide water to the village of Thorpe are situated in this land.

Lot 2 – SOLD

Situated to the north of Swindon Quarry this 27.98ha (69.14 acres) is accessed directly from Moor Lane. The land comprises meadow pasture and amenity woodland known as Millstone Gill   Plantation. The land is predominantly south facing and enclosed exclusively by dry stone walls.

Lot 3

Situated between Swinden and Linton, this mix of meadow and pasture extends to 6.06ha (14.97acres). Level and low lying, this lot has direct frontage to Lauradale Lane.


The property is sold subject to and with the benefit of all easements and wayleaves, both public and private, whether mentioned in these particulars or not, which may affect the property.

 The enclosed land forming Lot 1 is entered into a combined Upland Entry Level Stewardship Scheme. This agreement expires on the 31st October 2019. The purchaser will be required to comply with the agreement until expiry, and the vendor will retain all payments in full.

Lots 2 and 3 are not currently entered into any scheme and would be available for entry into Mid Tier or Higher Tier subject to Natural England  approval.

Lot 1

From the centre of Thorpe village, exit in an   easterly direction on Kail Lane and take a right turn onto Kail Lane track which terminates in the land. Alternatively head to the top of the village and follow Thorpe Fell Lane in a southernly direction and the land appears on the left hand side.

Lot 2

Exit Cracoe on the B6265 heading towards Threshfield. Approximately 0.4 miles past the Swinden Quarry entrance you will see a left turn onto Moor Lane. Follow Moor Lane for approximately 0.2 miles an the land is on your right.

Lot 3

Heading from Cracoe towards Threshfield on the B6265 take the right turn to Linton. Proceed along Lauradale Lane. Crossing the railway bridge and look out for a gate on your right hand side which leads to a track into the land.
